“When i researched Shepherds huts prior to buying one, I was delighted to find Pumphrey and Weston as I really wanted to support local Cornish entrepreneurs.
The quality of their huts sets a high benchmark. The finish and craftsmanship is something they should be truly proud of.
The design is clever and thoughtful and their attention to detail is exemplary.
We had some initial consultations where we thoroughly discussed my requirements and again I was impressed with their thoughtful planning and meticulous attention to detail.
Mike came out to look at the site and discuss access and transport. Together we were able to brainstorm the issues and come up with a workable solution to getting the hut down narrow Cornish lanes and a difficult turn onto the site.
The day of delivery went smoothly and was on time.
The hut has been a great success. Every visitor has commented on its spacious design, immaculate finish and functionality.
It is so snug and warm!
I have had guests staying in it over winter in extreme weather conditions with winds gusting to 70 m.p.h. It has stayed rock solid and was very toastie with the wood burner which keeps the heat in all night.
The hut is well insulated, so much so that some guests said it got a bit too hot and they had to open the window a bit!!
The hut sits beautifully on its site; solid and beautifully crafted.
I’d like to commend these two talented young men on their craftsmanship, attention to detail, customer care and just being “Jolly nice people” to deal with!!

While they were building them I would go up to the farm to have a look how they were progressing. The finish in our huts is amazing and to a very high standard.

“Quite suddenly, due to family circumstances, I quickly needed to create additional living accommodation. I approached Pumphrey and Weston to buy two shepherds huts with en-suites. I chose to work with Mike and Byron as their huts are of the very highest quality and were able to be customised to my needs. Unusually, I need to live in the hut throughout the year as additional bedroom space. They are lovely and cosy in winter, with a great little wood burner. I have a cute fridge and useful induction hob making breakfast easy. It is a joy to open the door and eat breakfast outside on a bright summer morning.

Things began with the demolition of a dilapidated, dark green 8 x 12 garden shed in the wilderness that was to become our top garden.

Our plans for a generic summerhouse morphed into building something more quirky and sustainable, that could be sourced locally, and would add value to our property.

Patient, professional and reassuring, he listened to our story and invited us to the workshop; where we were gently guided towards the best option to meet our specific needs. There was no pressure and no shortcuts on costs – if you want quality, you pay quality prices.

Byron’s honesty impressed as he gave us a realistic deadline for delivery too. These shepherds huts are hand-built and the number of available skilled craftsman’s’ hands is not infinite.

A thorough on-site visit by Mike, several weeks prior to the delivery date, meant that a suitable base could be planned; and tight corners, slopes, a narrow gateway and overhanging branches in the lane all anticipated.

Delivery day was nothing less than exciting – marginally ’nail-biting even! Yet the manoeuvring skills of the Pumphrey & Weston team had to be seen to be believed and by lunchtime our shepherd’s hut was sitting comfortably and precisely in its place. As if it had always been there.

We cannot fault the service, care and pride in their work shown by Byron, Mike and their craftsmen and we have no hesitation in recommending their shepherd’s huts to families wanting to add something special to their lives.”
